Quality service

Served by the owner
At Bois de Chauffage Magog, the quality of service is just as important as the quality of the wood. And know that you will be served by the owner. However, if we are unable to answer your call because we are busy serving another customer, please leave us a message. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, calls will be returned within a few hours. Once you have placed your order, we will usually be able to give you a delivery date right away.

Insurance
Although we take every precaution to ensure that our deliveries are trouble-free, no one is immune to an unfortunate incident. That's why we have insurance that protects you in the event that something unfortunate happens during delivery. You will have peace of mind if your property is damaged, knowing that we will be able to repair the damage.

Wood qality

Healthy wood
Bois de chauffage Magog is particularly concerned about offering its customers a quality product. Over the years, we have built relationships with landowners who care about the comfort of the citizens of Magog and surrounding towns. Our suppliers only supply us with wood in perfect condition. However, since we purchase a large volume, it is possible that a tree that is not in perfect health may find its way into one of the shipments we receive. However, rest assured that this tree will not end up in your delivery, as we will set it aside and use it for something other than firewood.

Dry wood
We know you want to buy dry wood. That's why we take the necessary steps to produce enough in advance so that we can provide you with the product you need. If high demand prevents us from supplying dry wood in the time frame you require, we will offer you semi-dry wood. It is then up to you to decide whether you want to go ahead or wait longer to have completely dry wood.

Selective cutting

By doing business with Magog Firewood, you are contributing to the sound management of the environment. Each tree cut has been previously examined and identified by a professional. Although this method is more expensive than clear-cutting, selective cutting helps preserve the balance of this living environment. Cutting down the largest trees allows more light to reach the smallest trees, which encourages their growth.

Price

Aside from quality, we know that as a consumer, you care about getting value for your money. Magog Firewood strives to offer competitive prices while maintaining high quality standards. Our prices take into consideration two factors: the quantity of wood you wish to purchase and the type of wood you want. Combining quality and price is no easy task and we are happy to make you benefit from this.

Two ranges of wood

Premium quality
We offer two grades of wood. The first grade of wood is generally used by our customers for the coldest months of the year, between December and March. It includes high energy yielding wood species such as sugar maple, American beech, cherry, white ash, American elm, red maple and late cherry.

Second grade **DISCONTINUED**
Our second grade wood includes the following species: birch, aspen, fir, white spruce and hemlock. This type of wood is perfectly healthy. It is free of rot or any other undesirable defect. It is called second quality firewood simply because it produces less heat when burned. This wood is generally used by our customers to start a fire and for heating in spring and early fall. Although it is less expensive, we would like to point out that it is not recommended to use this type of wood for year-round heating, because some of these species, especially fir, promote the accumulation of creosote in the chimney.

Taking wood from a private individual?

Magog customer who was cheated by buying firewood from an amateur, without having an invoice
We know that it is sometimes possible to find firewood slightly cheaper than at our place. But before you do business with the average person who sells wood to make ends meet, we encourage you to weigh the pros and cons.

Most hobbyists who sell wood to earn a little extra income will not provide you with an invoice. Not only is this against the law and puts you at risk of getting into trouble, but it also leaves you without any protection. Although buying wood "under the table" seems to be a common practice, we want to warn you of the risks involved.

If the quantity of wood delivered is not accurate, you will not be able to take action against the seller because you will not have an invoice.  Or, if you discover that the wood species you were sold is not what was agreed upon, again, you will have no recourse.

Another common situation with people who improvise themselves as wood suppliers within a few days is that they deliver wood that has not been properly dried. Did you know that in addition to clogging the chimney and causing safety hazards, burning wet wood greatly reduces the heat output generated by the wood combustion?

Storage

Whether stored indoors or outdoors, there are certain rules to follow to ensure that the wood remains dry and in good condition before it is used. This is of utmost importance to get the most out of your cord.

Dimension of a cord of wood

Bois de chauffage Magog supplies cords 48'' high x 96'' long x 15'' deep. Upon request, we are able to deliver 12'' and 14''. We encourage you to use a tape measure to ensure that you have received the quantity of wood that was agreed upon.

Recognize that the wood is dry

There are several ways to tell if wood is dry. The scientific way is to use a wood hygrometer. These devices are quite expensive and few people own one. A simpler way is to look at the ends of the logs. If the wood is dry, you should see cracks in it.
